I don't know about how they treat their patients, but if it's anything like the way they treat family calling in to obtain information as simple as visiting procedures, where their loved one is so one can call him/her; then it is scary.
The maintenance is obscene. They have violent criminals mixed in with pts with developmental problems. Illegal tobacco trade, sex for a few puffs of a cigarette. The food services staff are for the most part dirty and uneducated. And the same is true for the largest part of the nursing staff. Female house staff bathe is some of the most obnoxious perfumes. Transportation services drive carelessly with pts in poorly maintained vehicles and play loud violent R&B music while speeding and talking on there cellphones. They turn pts into diabetics with the Meds they give out, and don't care if they are even giving out the right Meds to the right pts.
Ive been hospitalized more then 15 times in NJ since I was a kid and in and out of jail since I was a kid too. I was committed in this place when I was 18-19
Assaults are common place. The human services police are cruel and uncaring. There may be only two Doctors that even care about the pts.
I sincerely hope they don't treat the patients the same way. The tone they use from the moment they answer the phone, how they cut you off before you can tell them the reason for your call and the rudeness when you tell them why you are calling (after being interrupted one hundred times) is appalling to say the least.
Patients are treated like cattle not like human beings. We were herded like cattle from one unit to another.
There needs to be an op-ed about how poor this facility is run.
It's a dirty filthy hate filled place and someone should investigate the place , prosecute MOST of the staff and give them lengthy prison terms or indefinite incarceration at their own facility.
I wonder if being nasty and rude is a requirement to work there? It must be, because I cannot believe the entire staff would be this rude unless it is mandatory by their job description.

Charles Gibson WAS a staffer that was asked to leave for stealing and abusive behavior, his brother threatens pts and is himself a racist.
Something as simple as asking to be transferred to the nurse's station where the patient is so that you can speak with him/her is replied to in a rude, unfriendly manner. "I don't know you!" "Just come visit and find out what you need to know!"
They make you wear their nasty Salvation Army type clothes with barcodes and your name attached like your some kind of herded animal. Your literally just a barcode number. Did I mention the staff steals food from the patients? Especially the fat black ones
I am still haunted by it. Worst hospital EVER. Showers are worse then jail showers. Some of the staff are worse then correction officers. They steal food from patients, make up stories about them and nurses come drug people up for no reason. Barely get to talk to a doctor. Staff is always yelling, can barely sleep. I dread ever going back here...Def not hospital treatment. Ive been treated better in jail. I am probably permemtaly mentally scarred from this place. I was so hungry I used to steal food from other patients after seeing how easily the staff was doing it. The programs suck
I barely made it out alive. The people that said anything good about that place should go back and spend the rest of their lives there. And TLU is the pits. One review mentioned cottage # 10 the epicenter for all things criminal, ask Charles Gibson that was his cottage. I watched him steal cases of food and threatened to kill other staff, I took care of that POS. HEY Fussel , I didn't forget about you either scumbag. And sampson you are a flat out inbred bible thumping moron(cottage #6). Ed I would love the chance to testify against you in a court of law. Your lack of compassion and inactivity has most likely cost pts their lives. 1848 is when they opened the gates of Hell there.
The state hires local scum to staff the place. It is a racist environment that caters to blacks and hispanics.
The staff steals ANYTHING they think they can get away with. The total lack of education is pervasive. A large part of the staff barely speaks or understands English. There is a maximum security prison on the property.
The staff is rude. The patients are treated like criminals instead of people who need the love and support of society; and there is a correctional facilty within the campus. This place should be condemned, and shut down — if not demolished entirely.
This is in response to asking if I can speak with the patient; after I was told prior to admission that I could just call and speak with him and I could call and ask any questions I had. Yeah, right!
